She Sips

She’s somewhere with a drink in one hand and her cell phone in another waiting on Mr. Wrong to text her back. As she sips a little more while she waits. Hours later still no text. At his point, she’s feeling the effects of the alcohol. So she is in her feelings at this point she starts questioning why he hasn’t texted back.

The next day she sees Mr. Wrong with his family. Broken hearted and disappointed she sips. After a few drinks, she decides to call Mr. Right Now, the guy she meets while she was sipping and waiting on Mr. Wrong to text back. So they meet up have some fun, amazing conversation, and then have sex. Feeling good and forgetting about Mr. Wrong she now puts all her heart and time in Mr. Right Now.

After a few months, Mr. Right Now begins to make excuses to why he can’t hang out and spend time with her. The fun and amazing conversation gets less and less. So, she sips.

Tired of being lied to, forgot about, and treated like leftovers in a restaurant, she sips. She sits alone, and she sips. She cries, and she sips. Her cries then turn into a loud shot asking” why me Lord!!!!?????” She continues to sip. She begins to ask the Lord “What have I done so bad that no man can love me?”

Falling asleep with and empty bottle of wine next to her she doesn’t realize what she started. As she sleeps The Lord waited for her to awake. He wanted to answer the questions she cried out to Him.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and said “Let me go to church.” When she got there, she felt different, she felt better during the praise and worship. Then the Pastor ministered a Word that seemed like God told him to preach directly to her. He said, ” Someone here today wants to know why their life is incomplete. The want to know why they’re not receiving the love they feel they deserve. They are punishing themselves by drinking, doing drugs, and sleeping around.” She immediately being to sob, praising God for the Word. As the Pastor preached he read scriptures from the bible. The scriptures said: Don’t put your trusted in humans…” (Isaiah 2:22 NLT). ” Don’t put your trust in idols…….I am the Lord your God.” (Leviticus 19:4 NLT). “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33 NKJV). The next one was ” Wait on the Lord, be brave and courageous Yes wait patiently for the Lord.” (Psalms 27:14 NLT). As soon as she heard Gods Words she knew He heard my cry (Psalms 28:26 NLT).

She wrote down each scripture and meditated on them. As she sipped her coffee an asked the Lord to speak to her, she sat there quietly and sipped on her coffee. The she received a revelation in regards to her plea that night before. She realized that she put all her trust into the wrong men. She was looking to them and the world to love her and to add onto her life. Being caught up in temporary gratification, she forgot that she needed to trust God first!! It was time for her to chase after Him. His Word told her that all things will be added to her life as long as she sought after Him while she patiently waited on the Lord.

This passage was inspired by real life experiences. We have all at one time or two ( or 3, 4, 5…..) got so caught up in self-gratification that we forget that our lives are not our own but they belong to God (Jeremiah 10:23 NLT). We must put all our hope, faith, and love in Him because those three things will last forever (1 Corinthians 13:13 NLT).

The Bible is our daily instructional manual. For everything we go through the Word of God has the answer. So let’s stop looking to men and the world to give us what God already has for us. Be Brave*Be Courageous*Be Patient.
